Dr McCaffery’s special
interest in improving the appearance of skin damaged by
acne and excessive sun exposure, led to the development
of the Clearskincare range of products and programmes. Having
cared for over 2,000 acne and sun damaged patients in her
practice in Edgecliff, Sydney. Dr McCaffery knows how frustrated
patients become with products that don’t deliver results.
Her vision is to help as many people as possible enjoy healthy,
blemish free skin.
Dr McCaffery graduated from
Sydney University Medical School in 1980. Following several
years as a hospital resident, she undertook a Masters in Public
Health in 1984 and spent the next fourteen years managing
large hospitals in both the Public and Private health sectors
in Sydney. She returned to clinical practice in 1998 and took
over the CACI Clinic in Edgecliff in Sydney in 1999.
The CACI Clinic had pioneered laser hair removal in Australia
in 1995 and was one of the first Cosmetic Medicine Clinics
in Sydney. Dr McCaffery's interest in Womens Health and
in particular, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (the commonest
cause of Adult Acne in females) expanded the Clinic's service
profile to include skin correction programmes for Acne,
Sun Damage, Pigmentation, Facial veins and Scarring. Dr
McCaffery has trained with a number of the world's leading
innovative Dermatologists including Dr Zein Obagi in California
USA and Dr Philippe Simonin in Geneva Switzerland.
In 2002, following 2 years of development through in Clinic
testing, Clearskincare's initial product range was launched.
The Clearskincare range was developed to provide affordable
corrective skincare for the commonest skin problems - Acne,
Pigmentation and Sun Damage. The range proved so popular with
patients that Clearskincare began supplying other Clinics
in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.
A number of innovative products, including the Easy Squeeze
(the world's best pimple and blackhead remover) and Microdermabrasion
Creams were added and in 2005, the Clearskincare Skin Roller
range was launched. Clearskincare Skin Rollers are registered
as Class 1 Medical devices to assist in improving the appearance
of indented scars and deep lines and significantly improve
the absorption of skin care products used for indented and
acne scars, ageing, sun damaged and pigmented skin and hair
loss. Clearskincare Medical Rollers (in clinic) and Clearskincare
Skin & Scalp Roller are set to revolutionise
the treatment of depressed acne scars, which have been very
difficult and expensive to treat in the past, by offering
an effective and affordable treatment option. Dr McCaffery's
goal for the next 5 years is to teach as many doctors as
possible the technique of Skin Needling, so that this treatment
option is available for every patient with depressed acne
scarring.
