The Menopause Diaries 3

My 5-Week Love Affair with Lumixa

And just like that… my weekly slice of bliss at Clear Skincare on Clarence Street has come to an end.

I won’t lie – I’m devastated. For the last five weeks, I’ve been religiously popping into the city clinic for my weekly dose of complete relaxation. And let me tell you, it was the closest thing I’ve had to a spa retreat since my life became a whirlwind of perimenopausal mood swings, random hot flushes, and wondering why my jeans suddenly don’t fit.

The Ritual: Face First, Chaos Later

Each session began with a cleanse and prep, and if you haven’t had someone else wash your face like you’re a delicate newborn, you’re missing out. There’s something about having your skin gently cleansed, patted dry, and prepped with expert hands that slows the heart rate and makes you forget about your inbox, your to-do list, or whatever hormonal catastrophe was brewing that day.

Then came the gel mask application – a cool, soothing layer that signalled it was officially time to switch off. As I lay back, a weighted eye mask was placed over my eyes, and for 10 whole minutes, I experienced something I haven’t in years: complete and utter stillness. No phone. No interruptions. No sudden waves of anxiety about whether I left the oven on.

Just. Bliss.

The Results: Ready-to-Face-the-World

One of the best things about Lumixa Skin Normaliser, is that there’s literally no downtime. I’d walk in looking like a drained, overtired single mum and walk out looking like I could actually take on the day.

While the therapists reminded me that optimal results would take time, I could already see a difference. My skin looked brighter, calmer, and way less stressed out.

So, what exactly is Lumixa doing?

Lumixa: The Skin Gym Workout You Didn’t Know You Needed

Turns out, Lumixa is basically a personal trainer for your skin, working on its defence mechanisms and natural repair processes through something fancy called photobiomodulation (big word, big impact).

It’s designed to:

Prevent & combat redness, inflammation, and early signs of ageing
Boost collagen for firmer, bouncier skin
Enhance natural glow (bye-bye, dullness)
Reinforce the skin’s defences so it can handle stress better (if only this worked for my life too…).

But here’s the best part-the results keep working beyond the 5 weeks! Even though my little love affair with Lumixa has officially ended (for now), my skin will continue improving in the weeks to come.

The Before & After: Proof is in the Pores

Want to see the magic for yourself? Here’s my Week 4 before and after.
(Spoiler: It’s very satisfying.)

Before treatment
After treatment

So, would I do it again? In a heartbeat. Because if perimenopause is here to stay, then at least I can glow my way through it.
