Stimulate collagen to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. As the PDO Threads activate collagen synthesis, the skin gradually tightens and renews, delivering a fuller and tauter complexion. Made from absorbable suture materials, these threads work in two steps: an initial gentle tightening and a later smoothing effect as collagen naturally takes over. Threads are placed under the skin via needle in the lower part of the face, neck, jaw and jowls once a topical numbing cream is applied for your comfort. Made from polydioxanone (PDO), the threads eventually dissolve while stimulating collagen and elastin production, creating a tightening effect.
Once the needle is removed the threads remain in place for up to six months and then slowly dissolve. They start dissolving at approximately 3 months but the collagen stimulation can last up to 12 months. This long-lasting effect is due to improvement of the skin condition due to the stimulation of collagen and elastin.
After treatment clients feel a refreshed and voluminous effect as the skin feels and appears tighter and firmer.

The low down
Some temporary side effects, such as swelling and bruising can be expected around the treatment area. This usually resolves within a few days, but could take a couple weeks.
Results are seen in 8–12 weeks and can last up to 12 months. PDO Threads are a made from a dissolving suture material, which is reabsorbed into the body after approximately 3 months. Yet, the collagen stimulation achieved can continue to benefit the skin for up to 12 months. So, a yearly treatment regime would be ideal.
Prior to treatment, numbing cream is applied to the designated area. This ensures you feel minimal discomfort during your treatment. Some tenderness may be experienced during the first few hours following treatment.

- Your Clear Skincare nurse will carefully go through your after-care instructions with you following your treatment, including any products that will help to extend your results.
- Immediately after: Keep the treated area clean. Some bruising and redness may occur after treatment, this varies by individual.
- For 24 hours after the treatment: Keep the skin clear and avoid makeup for 24 hours post-treatment. Do not rub, massage or place pressure on the treated area for 24 hours. Avoid exposure to extreme heat and do not exercise excessively for 24 hours. Avoid alcohol consumption entirely for 24 hours. Do not apply makeup or skincare products with active ingredients for 24 hours.
- For two weeks after treatment: Avoid dental treatments for the first two weeks after your treatment.
- Ongoing: We recommend Clear Skincare’s Tighten Serum to maintain and prolong results. We recommend a maintenance treatment 12 months after your initial treatment to ensure optimum results.

PDO Threads are made from a material called Polydioxanone which is an absorbable polymer that is flexible and durable. The Threads induce production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for upto 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face allowing natural collagen production to take place, over time the PDO thread will be fully absorbed by the body. Typically, around 50 PDO threads are used to treat each area.

One of the most incredible benefits is that treatment takes only 30 to 60 minutes. Expected treatment time varies on a case-to-case basis, but most of our clients are treated in under 30 minutes. After that, you are free to go back to your daily routine. Unlike a traditional facelift, there is no downtime or recovery associated with this treatment. Please allow 20 minutes before procedure for topical anesthetic to be applied.
PDO thread lifts have a much lower risk of complications than facelift surgeries. There’s less risk of scarring, severe bruising, or bleeding when performed by a trained professional. Minor complications are usually easily corrected. Potential complications include: visible sutures (especially in people with thin skin), pain or minor bruising, infection, snapping of threads inflammation, dimpling (orange peel-like skin texture), salivary gland injury.
