FAQs

Lumixa is a new treatment that utilises innovative technology called Fluorescent Light Energy (FLE). Lumixa treatments are indicated for the prevention and correction of ‘Inflammageing’ and the intrinsic signs of ageing. Lumixa gels are activated with a blue LED Light with wavelengths between 415nm and 465nm. The gel then performs a photoconversion which produces a spectrum of Fluorescent Light Energy (FLE). The standard protocol or entire course consists of 1 Lumixa treatment weekly for five weeks. Some clients may require more treatments depending on severity. Choose from Lumixa Skin Normaliser Skin Journey or Lumixa Collagen Booster Skin Journey.

Lumixa is a Fluorejuvenation treatment capable of stimulating biological processes and the skin’s regeneration mechanisms through “photobiomodulation” It is a “skin gym” treatment that reinforces natural defence mechanisms. It has also shown positive effects on redness control, collagen production and natural glow enhancement.

Lumixa is a safe, non-destructive and painless treatment. The gel remains on the skin surface and is not systemically absorbed. Lumixa is non-photo sensitizing, so this treatment is safely performed in the summer months.

There are very few side effects with Lumixa. Insensitive skin, mild erythema may be observed due to the heat. Darker Fitzpatrick Skin types may experience a mild bronzing/darkening of the skin, which dissipates after the treatment course. Contraindications are not linked to Lumixa per se but to the device being used to activate it. However, we recommend not to use retinol (or vitamin A) during the treatment since it can produce significant sensitivities. Efficacy and safety of Lumixa have not been tested on pregnant or breastfeeding women. Consult a doctor if considering using Lumixa if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant during the treatment or are breastfeeding.

With no downtime, Lumixa allows you to go back to your daily life straight after the session. Make-up can also be applied to the skin immediately afterwards.

A gel containing a fluorophore with a specific energy is applied to the skin.
The gel is then activated with a blue LED Light with wavelengths between 415nm and 465 nm.
Once activated, the gel performs a photoconversion which produces a spectrum of Fluorescent Light Energy (FLE).

Results vary depending on the treatment protocol and skin condition. Some patients see an improvement in redness after just one single session.

In most cases, significant improvements are noticeable during the last couple of weeks of a five week, standard treatment protocol.

Since Lumixa stimulates the skin’s biological processes, it continues to improve the skin in the weeks following the end of the treatment protocol.

In between treatments, it is essential to use an SPF. We recommend Clear Skincare SPF 30 oil-free Sunscreen.

To avoid irritation or discomfort on your newly resurfaced skin, do not exfoliate or use retinol or AHA products for at least seven days following your peel. Steer clear of the gym and any sort of excessive heat sources like a sauna or hot tub for 24 hours after, and drink plenty of water to protect your skin.

It is essential to use recommended homecare prescribed by your skin therapist to maintain your skin’s health and optimal regeneration.

Since Lumixa is not systemically absorbed, non-photo sensitising with no serious side effects, it can be combined with most homecare products.

We recommend not to use retinol (or vitamin A) during the treatment since it can produce significant sensitivities.

Lumixa offers treatments which utilise innovative technology called Fluorescent Light Energy (FLE). FLE works through photobiomodulation. While LED is a continuous type of light, FLE is a hyperpulsed light which facilitates superior cellular interaction. LED light uses the properties of one single colour (wavelength) at a time. FLE covers a very wide spectrum of wavelengths at the same time. Blue from the LED light and green, yellow and red from the FLE generated. FLE interacts with different receptors in the epidermis and dermis
