The low down
If you’re looking to up your skincare game and go beyond over-the-counter products and at-home treatments, Microdermabrasion is a great place to start. It’s suitable for all skin types 1 – 6 and is a particularly good option for those sensitive to chemical peels.
If you’re looking to up your skincare game and go beyond over-the-counter products and at-home treatments, Microdermabrasion is a great place to start. It’s suitable for all skin types 1 – 6 and is a particularly good option for those sensitive to chemical peels.
The good news is there’s no downtime after a Microdermabrasion treatment and you can go about your day as normal. Side effects are minimal. Immediately after the treatment your skin may appear a little flushed, but this should subside within 4 – 6 hours and the benefits are noticeable right away. Your skin will feel soft and smooth and pores will appear more refined. Over time your tone and texture will be evened out, particularly if you opt for regular treatments.
Rest assured, our Microdermabrasion treatment doesn’t hurt. You will feel some light suction and a polishing sensation which is not unpleasant – in fact, many clients find it quite relaxing!
To kick-start your exfoliation journey, we recommend an initial programme of 3 – 6 Microdermabrasion treatments spaced two weeks apart. After that, consider monthly treatments to maintain optimum skin health.

- Take care to avoid excessive sun exposure two weeks before and after your Microdermabrasion treatment.
- If you have broken skin or open wounds, wait for them to fully heal before having your Microdermabrasion treatment. Similarly, if you have active cold sores or you feel the tingle of a cold sore coming on, wait until you’re clear and tingle-free before having your treatment.
- Microdermabrasion treatment isn’t suitable for anyone with active acne, very sensitive skin or skin conditions such as inflamed, red or raw skin. Cosmetic Injecting clients should leave two weeks between their last Cosmetic Aesthetic treatment and Microdermabrasion.
Following your microdermabrasion, aftercare is required for 2 days to heal, hydrate and protect the skin.
